Staying On Track Each Day: Time Management

I feel like we all talk about having those never ending to do lists, right? For me, I can get really overwhelmed when I think about all the things I have to do in one day. It just seems like you finish one task and then five more pop up! With that said, you may have seen my other recent blog post on how to “balance it all” and in writing that post I realized that so much of it has to do with time management.

Ever since I’ve started being more aware of my time through the day, I’ve been a lot more productive. Regardless if I’m at home or out for the day, if I’m not cognizant of the time, I tend to loose track of the day–before I know it it’s 5pm and I still have what seems like a million things to get done. So just being aware of the time is one thing but the other part of it is time blocking. Essentially, I prioritize my to-do list and then assign an amount of time to each task. Lately I’ve been setting a timer for each task and in doing this I have an extra incentive to finish before my “time is up.” It’s kind of like this fun game….you with me or am I just weird?! Lol But really, this has helped me stay on top of things so much better!

While I can obviously tell what time it is from my IPhone and I can set timers on there as well, using my phone can get distracting. Whenever I pick up my iPhone I tend to have a text message, a new email, or I just have no self control and start scrolling through IG (I know I’m not alone on this)! But that’s why I’ve been loving my G-Shock S Series watch lately. There’s a stopwatch, timer, and alarm function I use to make sure I’m getting each task done within a certain timeframe. It can literally do everything my phone can to keep me on track through the day, but it doesn’t have any distractions (why is social media such a black hole)?!

The watch also counts your steps each day (and keeps weekly totals so you can reference your activity for the week). Another part of the steps feature that’s awesome is that you can program it so it lets you know when you’ve been inactive for too long. The step feature is great for me for a couple reasons. One being, even though I am pretty active and workout each day, half of my days I’m sitting in front of the computer for hours on end trying to get work done and just lose track of time–so it’s nice to have a reminder to get up and get moving for a little bit. But on the other hand, the other half of my days usually involve me going around town taking photos, running errands, etc. On these days it’s been interesting to see how many steps I’m actually taking (you take a lot more than you might think)!

Also, this S-Series comes in so many beautiful colors, but I am loving this white one for winter. I tend to think of white as being a summer color, but I’ve been all about winter whites lately! I love how the white just really pops with the rest of my outfit in these photos. I’ve linked the rest of the collection here so you can view all the colors and features (and you can obviously see it up close in some of the photos Stephen and I took).

I hope this is helps with finding better ways to manage time! The watch is an easy tool to integrate into my life without having to change my routine at all. Comment below to share what time management tools have been working for you. I always love to hear your ideas!
