Spring Pieces & Trends

Hey guys! So we are finally getting some warmer temps here in NC so I’ve been able to break out some spring pieces. I love how I say finally getting warm. I know, it’s only just April but I cannot tolerate the cold as we all know haha. Anyway! So today I’m sharing some spring trends with you guys courtesy of Trunk Club which is a company through Nordstrom. As you may remember I received their athleisure trunk earlier this year and absolutely loved it so I was really excited to partner with them again and try out their spring trends trunk!

I worked with the same stylist as last time, Heidi. She went ahead and pulled different spring pieces for me from Trunk Club’s Spring Stripes Trunk, since that is a trend this season. Featured Trunks are a great way to get a conversation stated with your stylist. They cover various themes from spring stripes to lightweight layers to spring trends. Heidi and I worked together to have her curate a Spring Stripes Trunk just for me. So last time when I did the athleisure trunk, I didn’t swap out any of the pieces originally selected. This time however, I ended up exchanging a few pieces selected for my initial trunk. One of the pieces selected was a military jacket which I loved, but I owned something very similar so I had it swapped out for something else. There was also a pair of red sandals in my trunk which were really cute but I tend to gravitate more towards neutrals. In this case,  I decided to switch them out for the same sandal but in black. This is one of the great things about Trunk Club. You have a stylist that can pull all these different pieces together but you can also give your input before you receive your trunk. You never have to receive anything that you don’t love or think you wouldn’t utilize as much as you’d like. And even after receiving your trunk, you can send back any pieces that you aren’t 100% in love with. It really is a win-win because you get a personal stylist to give you ideas and pull different looks for you, but you also have the opportunity to give any feedback and share about your style. (Also, all outfit details can be found in the caption of the photos and I will link everything directly at the end of the post)!

So, stripes. Let’s start with those pieces as this is a big trend this spring! I loved this shirt that Heidi picked as it was very light-weight, comfortable and flattering. Like, I could go out for pizza and wine and not worry about feeling uncomfortable 😉 And let’s be real, I love a good off the shoulder top (but this one is extra nice since it has mini straps)! I paired it with the jeans they sent along with white sneakers but it would also be super cute with a pair of white jeans and wedges if you wanted to dress it up more. Also, these jeans were SO comfortable. They were soft and had some stretch to them–probably one of the most comfortable pairs I’ve ever worn.

Shirt–Stripe Off the Shoulder Top by BP ($45); Jeans–Heather High Waist Crop Skinny Jeans by Articles of Society ($64); Sneakers–‘Cotu’ Sneaker by Superga ($65)

Another striped look they sent me was this cropped tee from Madewell. I LOVE cropped t-shirts. I don’t know why but give me a cropped tee with a good pair of high waisted pants or shorts and I’m in my element. I paired this tee with another Madewell item–their high waisted white jeans. I have a couple pairs of white jeans because they are really versatile going into spring and summer but I loved the cut of this pair. I was a little hesitant at first because I always opt for a skinny leg/jean but this boot cut was so cute! It just added something different. Also I will say that with both pairs of jeans I was a little nervous about the sizing. I mean, if I ever order pants online I always order like 3 sizes because I never know how they will fit! I told Heidi my typical sizes (I’m usually a 27-29) and she sent one size of both jeans. At first I was like okay, I don’t really think they are going to fit perfectly–but I was SO wrong! Both jeans fit like a glove! I guess that is what a stylist is for huh? 😉 I ended up wearing a 27 in both pairs.

I also paired this outfit with the black sandals they sent which are a great neutral sandal for everyday. I then added the white crossbody faux leather bag–circle bags for spring are another trend that I love! In my trunk I also received these sunglasses from Ray Ban. I’ve thought about purchasing these sunglasses in that past because I’ve seen them on a lot on other girls and have always loved them but didn’t know how they would look on me. I have to say though that I ended up really loving them. They are a great pair of sunglasses that are iconic but don’t make too much of a statement–basically they are a great addition to any outfit.

Shirt–Stripe Easy Crop Tee by Madewell ($40). Jeans–Cali Raw Edge Demi Boot Jeans by Madewell ($128. Wearing a size 27). Sandals–Gala Two Strap Slide Sandal by Sam Edelman ($80). Purse–Cassie Faux Leather Crossbody Bag by Chelsea28 ($49). Sunglasses–Ray Ban Icons 50mm Round Metal Sunglasses ($153).

Okay, now let’s talk about this denim jacket! This was one of my favorite pieces because denim jackets are just so versatile–everyone should own one! I have a regular one but I couldn’t resist this pearl studded one. It’s such a fun take on an original demin jacket. I also really love that it’s oversized. I mean, who doesn’t love oversized tops?!

Jean Jacket–Sunday Funday Denim Trucker Jacket by Free People ($148)

One other top I received in the trunk was this graphic tee! If you know me, you know I am ALL about the graphic tee. They can be so easily paired with anything and it’s such a simple way to add some character to an otherwise simple outfit. Plus, I am all for casual style on a day to day basis.

Shirt–J Crew On The Bright Side Tee ($32)

So two of the final items I received in my trunk were so fun! Since we’re now in spring, that means summer is coming up aka swimsuit season! Last year I got super into one pieces, and Trunk Club sent me one that I ended up loving! Again, I was kind of worried about the sizing because I tend to wear smalls in clothes but when it comes to swimsuits it’s tricky. I usually wear a large in tops and a small in bottoms, so one pieces that fit correctly can be hard to find. Oh and I’m 5’9” so that’s another thing to add to the list to make it difficult haha. But again, Heidi sent the perfect size in this one piece. I am wearing a size large and and it fit great. I loved this one piece because it was super flattering and has kind of a fun retro feel to it! Also, this bandana was so cute with it! I wore this bandana with an all-white outfit later in the week as well–so very versatile.

Swimsuit–The Michelle One Piece Swimsuit by Solid & Striped ($168); Bandana by Madewell ($12)

Alright guys, that sums up my spring stripes trunk! Did you guys have any pieces that were your favorite? Or any spring trend that you’re personally excited about? Do we like stripes–yay or nay?! Also, will link Trunk Club’s site here for anyone interested in trying their service. I would highly recommend as there really is no downside! You can keep the pieces you like, return the ones that you don’t. But I mean, who wouldn’t want to work with a stylist and get a personalized wardrobe?! It’s seriously so fun! xx C
