Hey babes! If you follow me on IG, you probably know that Stephen and I spent the weekend in Los Angeles visiting my sister Jane, and her boyfriend, Collin. Ah, we had such a good trip guys! LA is always fun to visit, so that matched with good company–you know we had a good time.
The first morning I was there, Jane and I met with some of my favorite IG girls! We went on an early morning hike at Franklin Canyon. It was so good to meet these girls in person and get to know them better! Afterwards Jane and I went to grab some coffee and breakfast at Alfred’s Coffee in Beverly Hills–an LA staple if you will 😉 The chocolate and hazelnut croissant was so good! And I guess it should have been for $7 ha
After breakfast, we went back to my sister’s apartment for a little while before heading out to a favorite taco place of her and Collin’s. We went to Mondo Taco which is a casual taco and burrito bowl type place. They also have a variety of bottled beers. It was yummy! I got the soy chorizo taco and a shrimp tempura one. Afterwards we went to the Getty which is an art museum with beautiful grounds and gardens that overlook LA.
After visting the Getty, we met up with Collin and then went out for Italian! They live in Westwood, so we went to one of their favorite Italian spots that is just a few blocks from their apartment. It’s called Pomodoro. Their bread and gnocci were amazing!
The next morning we decided that we would go on a hike in Malibu since it was such a nice day out–and it was clear skies too so we knew the hike would have a beautiful view. Our first stop though was at Sidecar Doughnuts in Santa Monica. You guys know how much I love donuts and I have tried a lot of donut places. I have to say, Sidecar were the best I’ve ever had. Not exaggerating. If you’re a donut lover like me you have to go here!! Our favorites were the butter & salt, and the apple pie. Afterwards, we drove to Malibu to hike Corral Canyon. It wasn’t super strenuous but you still work up a good little sweat! Also, my calves were definitely hurting afterwards haha. But it was a great hike and the views were beautiful. Afterwards we went to have lunch at Wurstkuche. It was a restaurant with different imported sausages, Belgian fries, and a bunch of beers on tap. The fries were AMAZING!!
Later that night we went to downtown LA. We spent a couple hours at Arts District Brewing Co. where we had a beer and played skee ball and jenga haha. Skee ball was so fun guys! haha. And apparently you can play for free here on Monday’s?! Afterwards we had dinner at Perch. Perch is a French restaurant that is 13 stories up which amazing views of the city. The vibe of this restaurant was really cool–we had a table out on the patio. The appetizers we ordered we really good (the baked brie & mac n cheese) but unfortunately I got sick and couldn’t eat my dinner I ordered. Meh. Anyway, Perch is a little pricey but if you’re looking to go somewhere in DTLA with beautiful views and a cool vibe, I’d recommend here for either dinner or just a cocktail on their rooftop bar.
The next day we decided that we’d go to Calamigos Ranch in Malibu. But first we went to get bagels at Jane and Collin’s favorite local spot for lox. It is this little deli a few blocks from their apartment called Nathan’s kosherland. After getting bagels we walked to the park and had our breakfast there.
Shortly after we made our way out to Malibu to go to Calamigos Ranch. This place is so fun! I probably sound like such a tourist but I don’t care. What’s not to love about this place? Games, delicious drinks, a super cute setting. And I got to try frosé for the first time which was amazing! I’m like what was I doing this summer that I wasn’t drinking this?! If you go here though, I would recommend just getting drinks and not eating haha. The food is just super expensive. We had a couple drinks, and then afterwards headed back to Westwood to grab a late lunch/early dinner. We went to TLT which is described as new American food (I think it was originally a food truck)? I had been here last time I visited my sister and it’s just a great place to grab a quick, and inexpensive bite! They have everything from tacos, burritos, bowls, salads, quesadillas, etc. Jane and I got the Chimi Noodle bowl (cold noodles) with tuna. Yum!
We ended our last night with getting ice cream from another of their favorite spots by their apartment, Saffron and Rose, and then just watched a movie! It was the perfect way to end the trip. We were definitely sad to leave and want to plan another trip back ASAP! Hope you guys enjoyed the pics and the recap of our trip! xx Claire
