Hey guys! I know this blog post is a tad overdue but if you are part of the IG story fam you know that I’ve been having some issues with my website. So anyways, hey! I’m back. I wanted to do a little Valentine’s Day recap with you guys as Stephen and I took a staycation this year at a local boutique hotel that we’ve been wanting to try.

So I’ll start with saying that prior going to the hotel that night, Stephen surprised me at our apartment. I’m not actually sure how to describe what the surprise was besides that I think I’ve been making Stephen watch the bachelor too much with me haha. So with that said, if you’re interested I’ll let you view the vlog (yes, we’re starting a YouTube channel!) of that and the rest of our staycation here 🙂 ).

That night we were staying at the Unscripted Hotel in downtown Durham, NC. This is a boutique hotel that opened up last year. Stephen and I had been here before to grab coffee since they have a really cute cafe area (and bar) in their lobby area, but we had never stayed here. That being said, we thought Valentine’s Day would be perfect time to try it out. The entire vibe of the hotel is very art deco in my opinion, which I love. I also really want to go back during the summer because they have a rooftop pool with an outdoor restaurant–the food and cocktails they have here look amazing! They also have DJ’s come during the summer so I definitely need to go back during the warmer months. But anyway,  below are some photos of the hotel!

That night the Unscripted was also partnering with Bedlam Vodka which is a local distillery. They were hosting an aphrodisiac vodka tasting at the hotel which Stephen and I got to go to. I will say, I wasn’t quite sure what it would entail–I mean I’ve only ever been to wine tastings! But it was a really cool experience. Basically, there were different appetizers and drinks made that were infused with their vodka and then either mixed or paired with other things. It was a fun way to start the night with some small bites and cocktails. Below a photo of the distillery prepping–looks very complicated to me! Lol

After the vodka tasting, can you guess what Stephen and I did? We literally changed out of our nicer clothes, put on jeans and tshirts and went to grab pizza. Haha, typical! We decided not to do a fancy dinner this year and just enjoy our stay at the hotel and do something low key. The vodka tasting was the perfect way the spend the first couple hours of our night but then we were totally content with grabbing pizza at one of favorite local spots and then calling it a night! As I get older I realize that I am much more of a homebody–just being able to go back to the hotel and relax was perfect. I mean, hotel beds are just the best! And this one at Unscripted was no exception 🙂 The next morning we grabbed some coffee and breakfast at their cafe and then made one last stop at our favorite donut place before heading home (it wouldn’t have been right not to celebrate valentines day without donuts 😉 ).
