I was thinking today about how different our home looks now from when we first moved in. And yes, part of that is obviously due to things like the paint and actually having furniture lol. But, I was thinking more specifically about how the smaller items can make a huge impact in adding character and elevating your space. Here are several (easy) additions that I feel like have really helped in doing that:
Floor Mirror I feel like a large floor mirror always opens up a space and because of its larger size, it just feels grand in nature. It’s also an easy way to cover a large space if you don’t want to add more artwork, another side/console table, etc. We have this one that we love, and it comes in two different sizes. Here are some other great options as well.
Small Decor Accents It’s all in the details. From coffee table books, match strikers, candles, and coasters, to throw blankets. All of these items really add to the ambiance and character of a room. I will say though, do an inventory of what you have BEFORE you go to HomeGoods and just buy a bunch of random sh*t. See what you’re already working with and fill in the gaps from there.
(Dried) Flowers We have dried flowers on our coffee and dining room table, and in our old house we had them on bookcases as well. I know real flowers can be nice from time to time, but I feel like with the faux-dried flowers or pompous grass you can get more a specific look with all of the varieties and assortments. Plus, they are way more cost-efficient!
Artwork Wall art is another easy way to elevate your space, especially with one larger/statement piece. I love a gallery wall for certain spaces, but larger, oversized art definitely can feel more lux and make more of a statement and impact.
Wallpaper While paint is a great way to update a space, there is something about a certain wallpaper selection that can really take a space to the next level. I love using a bolder, more moody wallpaper print in a smaller bathroom, or even as an accent wall in a bedroom. Again, this can depend on the print and colors you choose but it’s an easy way to make a space feel very custom.
