Earlier this week I assembled a bookshelf for our living room (see here if you missed it) because 1) I felt like it would work perfectly for this space and 2) we have so many books and decorative items from our old house that are still sitting in boxes that needed a new home. Now, I know that you can’t always make everything from an old space work in your new one, but these are books that we genuinely want to keep and also they (plus the decorative items) look great displayed as well.

That being said, I remember how hard it was at the time to find different decorative home items to mix and match on our shelves – things that added variety and interest but also felt cohesive and not random. Not to mention items that weren’t super expensive. Especially when you have a larger space/shelving area to fill you can easily spend hundreds of dollars (or more) trying to decorate it.

So, today I figured I’d round up decorative home items from Target and Amazon. Not only are they at a more reasonable price point but they have a great variety of aesthetic items to choose from!
