Hey guys! Going into 2018, a lot of you said that you wanted me to focus on sharing more of my personal style, which I was definitely down to do! Fashion and styling myself have always been a hobby of mine (did you know that I originally started my blog to showcase more of my personal style? It wasn’t even fitness related! lol), so needless to say I’m super excited to share more outfit inspo with you 🙂
While I get that there is a lot of outfit inspiration going around on IG, blogs, Pinterest, etc. I wanted to make sure that I was sharing brands that most of us can actually wear/buy. I mean, I love nice things just as much as the next girl and I don’t mind splurging on certain staple pieces, but as a general rule of thumb I like to keep most of my items around $100 and less. And apparently you guys feel the same way! A lot of you said that you feel the styles and brands that a lot of fashion bloggers share just aren’t realistic in terms of price point. But don’t worry–I got you! Today I’m going to share some of my favorite athleisure brands and pieces courtsey of Trunk Club.
So, before getting into some of the brands and styled outfits, I want to thank Trunk Club for partnering with me on this post–they are to thank for all these fabulous looks I’m going to share! For those of you not familiar, Trunk Club is a Nordstrom company that essentially curates a box of clothing pieces and outfits based on your personal preferences (for men and women). So as a Nordstrom company you know that they have all the best brands and variety! Nordstrom is a personal favorite, what can I say. So anyway, you work with a personal stylist and explain what types of clothes you’re looking for, what your personal preferences are in terms of colors, styles, price point etc. There is a stylist fee of $25 but this goes towards your purchases, and if you’re a Nordstrom cardholder this fee is waived. Plus, shipping is free both ways for everyone so you don’t need to worry about that. They have clothes ranging from business casual, everyday wear, to athleisure and athletic wear, and even boxes divided into categories like basics, colors, sweater weather, etc. Obviously there is a ton of variety to choose from! They are not a subscription service so you have the flexibility to order a trunk whenever you want whether it be on a one time basis, seasonally, or just as often as you want 🙂
When I first was signing up for my trunk, I answered about 15 different questions to give my stylist an idea of my personal style and what I was looking for. Then, my stylist (Heidi–who did an AMAZING job) went through different atheisure brands and hand selected various items for me to choose from. Then, I was able to review all the items prior to receiving the trunk and trying all of them on. So, if you want to exchange any of the items for another option you can do so even before receiving your trunk. I however did not exchange out any of Heidi’s picks because they were that good! She even sent me a pair of Nike’s which I was obsessed with. I was like, OMG a pair of shoes too?! I seriously loved each piece, and the even better part was that everything fit perfectly too. Win-win. Below are photos of the pieces they selected for me in addition to their price points! All the pieces I selected were around $100 or under more or less. I love that so many of these pieces I can get double use out of–either wearing them to or from the gym or just as every day casual wear.
Overall, I really loved all of these brands that Trunk Club sent, and felt like all the pieces were great quality and a decent price point! Also, even though I think I can style myself more than adequately (LOL) it was nice having a stylist curate the trunk for me for a few reasons. While I know what I like, sometimes it takes a fresh set of eyes to identify pieces outside your normal repertoire. Like, those Nike shoes! I would have never picked those out for myself but as soon as I saw them and tried them on I was like, these feel like me and are such a cute addition to an outfit. Also, sometimes it’s just hard to narrow items down and make a decision! Sometimes (okay, a lot of times) when I go shopping I end up with wayyy more in my checkout cart then I should and have a hard time narrowing down and eliminating items. Also, their stylists are trained to know which brands and clothing styles will work best on different body types (so that’s probably why everything fit perfectly?!) Plus, it’s also really fun previewing your trunk and seeing what items were chosen for you. I mean, who doesn’t like opening gifts (well, trunks 😉 )?! It’s a perfect balance of a personal and customized service with still having the convenience of being online.
I hope that you guys enjoyed these looks and found some brands that are not only affordable but that you can wear in and out of the gym. Did you guys have a favorite outfit piece or brand? Also, if you’re interested in trying out Trunk Club, you can do so here! 🙂
Athleisure is what I love to wear when I’m not working, but it’s important to me that I still look semi put together and fashionable. I was very interested to hear about trunk club and that they can do athleisure looks. Love the casual-cool vibe in the pieces the sent you. Now I wanna try!
Love this so much!! I love that cropped hoodie! I definitely am going to check this out!
I Agree the clothes she wears for working out or just in general are so ?.
I love all the looks!!!?? I literally don’t wear anything else but athleisure outfits
Love your outfits, even without a stylist everything that you wear is super cute! Definitely going to check out the black leggings with the gold patches!
Love these looks? I would so get in trouble with this box!
SUCH CUTE STUFF! I have the nikes and I love them for lifting!
Seriously I LIVE in athleisure!! I love how this included so many different styles, because not everyone enjoys wearing super tight tops or loose clothing to work out/leisure. I’m a college student so basically all of my outfits during the week are leggings and work out tops? especially when I go to the gym directly after class. Thanks for showing all of these brands and styles!! Now time to spend the money I don’t have on more altheisure clothing?
Reebok sweatpants are my FAV! Also, all my workout tops are from Nike, super soft and comfy and really inexpensive for how long they hold up! Lots of love for you Claire and the message you send people. I’ve told you before but you’re the most real and down to earth person who I adore in insta! Have a great week babe!
My name is Lexi! I couldn’t figure out how to make it so I didn’t show up as anonymous in case I win a giveaway this week!!! Insta is lexismith246 ??
Thank you for sharing stylish options for athletic wear beyond the gym! I find that I am much more likely to enjoy what I am doing during my time at the gym, and getting more done to and from the gym when I feel good about what I am wearing!
How often should you ditch old gear and buy new pieces? Wasn’t sure if workout gear had a shield life because I act like it doesn’t haha
As long as the clothes aren’t too worn I’ll keep wearing them!! I have workout stuff that is like 3 years old!!
I have to admit, I don’t think I would have return any piece either!! I think I speak for more than just myself that it’s appreciated that you did something to help us all and the fact that you listen to our opinions! 🙂 Is this subscription one that you can schedule?-similar to that of like stitch fix?
Well thanks girl, I appreciate you saying that! I’m here to help you guys so I always want to share topics that you’re especially interested in ? and I’m not too familiar with stitch fix but I know trunk club isn’t technically a subscription box. You can get them seasonally, monthly, or on a 1x basis. But If you choose do it on more of a regular basis I think you can schedule them ahead of time!
THIS BLOG IS PERFECT! Literally my entire wardrobe (besides scrubs…Nurse life!) I will definitely be checking out Trunk Club!

Claire! Thank you for your post! I feel like athleisure is a go to these days! As a college student I do my best to always look my best even on the days I would like to be home snuggled up in bed. Those days I go for an athleisure-ly look. I really loved the Mellow Model Tee, it’s a cute staple piece and looks great to mix with patterns — to dress up or down too!
You mention Trunk Club in this post… I just sent over my details on my style and have yet to reply to my stylists but I look forward to seeing what they peice together for me.
Thanks again Claire, many blessings!

I had no idea about your main goal for yourself (style over fitness) that’s such a fun fact! I’m glad you’re finally getting to pursue your dream! You pull off every style so well (:
Looks amazing – love the jacket ?
Hi Claire!! I was looking forward to reading this post!! I recently got back into lifting weights and I even checked out Paola and her fitness guide! I tried the free week and loved it! I also wanted to share some athletic wear I recently purchased (budget friendly) if you wanted to try them out and post those one day! They’re from AdoreMe.com. It’s a subscription but you can cancel anytime! Just go under the Activewear and find Raemi, Rica, and Frany. I really like Frany, they are so comfortable and I like the color a lot. Out of the three of them, I think Frany is my favorite! I hope you try them out and enjoy them! I ordered a size small and they fit good, I feel like I always have a gap around my front privates, but I can never find any leggings that don’t have that!!
Anyways, just wanted to say hi and can’t wait to watch more IG stories and see posts and read blogs!!! Love everything you share and love how you share so much “real” things to show life isn’t perfect!! ??
Whoops, forgot to tell you my size. I’m 4’11 and 102 pounds! I always have to fold the bottom of any pants since I am so short! My students always like to comment on my height. Kids sure do tell you the truth!
I am also a recent graduate, and being a teacher we get school breaks so I lived in leggings over the Christmas break. It was time for some fresh ones, but definitely on a budget!!
xoxo
