Hey guys! Thought I’d write today’s post to check in to see how everyone’s doing and give a little life update. Obviously more of a mental one since physically not a lot is going on–still at home, clearly!
I don’t know about you guys, but my moods have been a little all over the place. Some days I feel really positive and dare I say, in a really good mood. And other days, I just feel really “blah”. On days that I’m feeling good, I’ve been really productive and have the drive and energy to get a lot of stuff done. And then the other days, I have no desire to do anything! A lot of you seem to be a similar boat. Something that has helped me on the days that I’ve been feeling blah and just unmovitaed, is making a small list of things to get done. It may be as small as taking the dogs on a walk, cleaning my room, and reading for an hour. So not necessarily work related, but just a few things to get me moving and distracted. And honestly, that seems to help. At the end of the day I don’t feel “as bad.” Like, I think I would feel even worse if I got to the end of the day and realized that I just spent the whole day laying around. Nothing wrong with having some of those days where were just binge watch Netflix, read, relax, etc. But I think too many mental health days aren’t doing us many favors lol.
So if you’ve been feeling unmotivated, I encourage you to write down just 3 things you want to do each day. Again, they don’t have to be big things. It can be to take your vitamins, go for a 20 minute walk, do the laundry, try a new recipe. I know it can feel really hard to do some of these things, but I promise you that you’ll feel better at the end of the day. Something that helps me is knowing that at the end of the day, I fulfilled the promises I made to myself. Do that, and you’ll go into the next day feeling better. Not saying it will be easy, but the more you “force” yourself to do things, it will get easier each day.
Other random thoughts: takeout seems to be the most exciting thing happening these days LOL. But seriously. We got burgers & fries on Friday night and yesterday we went to get bagels and iced chai lattes. We’ve tried to limit takeout during everything just to be “safer” but we still want to support local businesses especially. So we’ve been doing curbside pickup where it’s safe!
As far as going into this week goes, I’m going to do my best to get back into more of a “normal” routine monday-thursday. I honestly say this mostly in regards to what I’ve been eating and drinking LOL. The first few weeks of quarantine, I felt like I was eating well, and let’s be honest, still having wine practically every night but since I was eating healthy I wasn’t even thinking/worried about it. Last week though, I felt like my eating definitely could have been better (just snacked a ton, especially at night) and was drinking my usual wine so when the weekend was coming to an end, I was just feeling “blah.” Not even so much physically, but I just think I realize how what I’m eating and drinking impacts my mood on a regular basis. I don’t know if that makes sense?! So this week, Monday-Thursday I’m going to try to make some “better”/”healthier” food choices, and then indulge more on the weekends like I normally would.
I hope that y’all are staying safe and healthy, and hanging in there! I know the last month has not been ideal, but remember that this will all pass. In the meantime, I’ve been continuing to remind myself about the silver linings and the “positives” that are coming from this! Would love to hear how you guys are doing below xxC
