So I feel like the last 6 months I’ve been approaching my wardrobe and closet very differently than I have in the past. In the past I felt like I was always “on the hunt” for new items or the next best thing. Someone would share something on social media, or I would see something while online shopping and think I “have to have it.” I realized that overtime, there would be this instant gratification when I would first purchase, but then after wearing it once the item(s) would just sit in my closet, and the cycle would start again. It’s probably not the best for my wallet, the environment, my closet space, etc. And while I’m not perfect in this department by any means, I just decided I wanted to work towards being more conscious about how I’m spending and choosing the items that I’m purchasing.
That being said, over the last 6 months, I’ve focused more on quality over quantity for starters. That means mixing higher and lower price points, but pieces I know I will wear consistently and that I can mix and match with other pieces in my closet. I feel like this way, your wardrobe as a whole is long-lasting (vs. filled with trendy pieces) but you can add seasonal items and accessories through the year that help enhance it. And one thing I’ve noticed is that items like shoes, bags, jackets, jeans, etc. are the best to invest in (IMO) because you can wear them consistently through the week(s). Like, you can’t wear the same shirt 3 days in a row but you can wear the same shoes. Also, these items can really make a statement and add to a more simple outfit. So, on that note! Let’s dive into what will be in constant rotation in my closet for this spring.
Sneakers – I feel like I always gravitate towards sneakers over sandals or heels. I think they are more comfortable in general, but also just prefer how they look with the outfits I tend to wear. I dress pretty casual (as I’m sure most of you know) so heels are pretty rare, and I just think that sneakers can make more of an impact/statement than sandals.
A pair of white sneakers are always a must (especially for spring and summer), and my ECCO soft 7s are usually my go-to. But recently, I got this new pair of ECCOs that they just released and think they are so cute! And incredibly comfortable. I love that they are neutral so very versatile but have a little pop of yellow. I feel like the yellow is almost a neon and pastel –it’s like the perfect shade for spring! I also was wearing them in this photo here. If you have ever owned a pair of ECCO shoes, you know how high quality they are and much thought and detail they put into making their shoes comfortable. This pair has their trademarked ECCO FLUIDFORM which is a fluid injection process they use to increase stability and comfort and you can absolutely tell a difference when wearing them. I normally wear a size 8.5 and I wear an 8/8.5 in ECCO.
Neutral Bodysuits – I love me a good bodysuit guys!! The other day I looked in my closet and black, white, and tan bodysuits are definitely a popular item. I just feel like they are so versatile to wear with jeans, shorts, skirts…the list goes on. And they are just comfortable! Easy, no fuss.
White/Nude Leather Jacket – This is an item that I added to my closet a year or so ago, and so glad I did! It’s what I always reach for during the spring whenever I go out at night. It’s a nice layering piece that doesn’t look too heavy.
White (Straight Leg) Jeans – So lately I’ve been very into straight leg jeans (vs. skinny). I don’t want to think that Gen Z is influencing me lol but now when I wear my skinny jeans I just can’t get into them! This pair of white (ecru) jeans I love, and think they will be getting a lot of use this spring and summer. PS. I’d recommend sizing up one in this pair. I’m wearing a 29R.
Fanny Packs/Belt Bags – Okay these are multi-seasonal but I realized over the last year how much I love a good fanny pack! I think they look so cute (I love to wear mine over my chest vs. around my waist) and they are so practical and convenient. I will definitely be wearing mine this spring and expanding my collection with some other (lighter) colors!
Do you guys have any pieces in particular you know you’ll be wearing a lot this spring?
Thank you to ECCO for sponsoring this post. They are a brand that I have worn for years, and if you all haven’t tried ECCO, I highly recommend adding a pair of their shoes to your closet!
