So we have a blog post dedicated to the best neutral nail colors but figured it was time to have a post that outlines what I ask for when I get a manicure. It’s nothing groundbreaking lol, but I feel like it’s a question that is asked fairly often. So figured why not give it a designated spot on the blog 😉
For starters, I always get a gel manicure and tend to go every 2 weeks. You can see my full breakdown of my beauty routine/schedule here, but every 2 weeks is how often I get my nails done. One week I get a full manicure, and the following two weeks I just get a polish change. This helps cut down on cost a little bit!
As far as a shape goes, I ask for a blend between oval and almond. I basically say, I love the almond shape but I don’t want them so pointy that I’m going to poke out my eye when trying to take out my contacts LOL. These photos are just a couple days after a fresh mani so you can see the length I get when I first go in.
When it comes to the gel polish, I tend to get 2 top coats and I make sure to put my nails under the UV light 2x at the end so they really get some extra strength/protection. When I go back in 2 weeks later it’s rarely because my nails are chipped or peeling but mostly because my nails have grown so much that they are looking a little rough that grown out lol.
These are also my real nails– I’ve found that ever since I’ve started taking a daily vitamin and switching to an oval/almond shape that I rarely have them break. At least those are the only things I can think of that have changed. Meaning, a few years ago, I would get gel nails, in the shape of square with rounded edges (and wasn’t taking a multivitamin) and my nails would break all the time. I would go back in for a manicure 2 weeks later and I’d have at least 3-4 nails (if not more) that were torn, broken, etc. That happens rarely now and if it does it’s usually only like 1 nail. If that is the case, I will have them apply a tip to just that one nail so it looks even with the rest of them! But seriously, my nails used to be so bad and now when I go in for a manicure the owner of where I go is always saying how strong/good my real nails are and how most people need tips for them to be that long (I keep them shorter because of my contacts lol but you know what I’m saying). So I don’t know exactly what it is but something is working!!
Okay guys, I think that is about it. Let me know if you have any questions.
EDIT: There’s been one other big thing that I’ve added to my nail routine and sharing all about that here!
I love a good manicure and your nails are always so cute. I get all of my inspiration from Pinterest.
