Suit Inspired Workwear Looks for Fall

The fact that trousers have come back in style over the last couple years is a true blessing. Needless to say, I love a good trouser moment whether it’s for work, going out for a drink, or even pairing them with a sweatshirt while running errands. They are comfortable, versatile and chic – what’s not to love?

Now, while we love a trouser, I’m excited to share in this blog post some other suit inspired workwear looks for this fall from M.M.LaFleur (code CLAIRE20). I say workwear because that is where the inspiration behind these pieces stem from, but the beauty of these pieces is that you can really incorporate them into any area of your wardrobe and still make a statement. Whether you’re going out for dinner, a work happy hour, a networking event, seeing a play, etc. you can consider them your one-stop suit shop. The versatility and elevated “power casual” looks that M.M.LaFleur strives for make for an effortlessly sleek, yet comfortable, put together look.

Below are photos from some of my favorite suit inspired pieces on their site. Keep in mind that so many of these pieces I mix and match with my wardrobe that I already own. For example, as I type this blog post, I’m wearing the Roo Vest (in acorn) paired with dark jeans and a casual sneaker. These are all high quality pieces that are meant to last, and to be worn with and incorporated into your current wardrobe throughout the seasons. So take a look at what gaps your current wardrobe may have, and start there when incorporating new pieces. Maybe you need a classic black pant (insert the Horton or Milo Jean), or maybe you need layering basics (the Axam turtleneck is a favorite), or maybe a couple blazers to elevate your more casual looks.

I wanted to start with this first look because #trousers. But not only that, I love a monochromatic look and this one is such a good neutral color. I also love the button and collar detail on the top, along with the belt to help accentuate your waist with the slightly oversized fit. The belt is also removable so this top could double as a light jacket/layering piece as well. I’m wearing a small in the top and a 6 in the pants (so TTS). Ps. Remember, code CLAIRE20 can be used towards these M.M.LaFleur pieces!

Oh and please notice how perfect their Karis gold earrings go with every outfit. I’ve been wearing these non-stop and there is something about the shape and style that has me pulling them for every outfit I wear. Literally

Next up, are two blazer and pant sets that are the most beautiful fall colors – wine and forest. I’ve worn these blazers solo and paired these pants with different tops, but if you are looking for a full set and/or a monochromatic look, these are great options. As a side note, a monochromatic look makes you instantly look more put together so it’s an easy way to achieve a seamless look. I also love that both of these pants literally feel like you’re wearing loungewear, I mean, even the blazers have great flexibility (not stiff whatsoever). So all in all very comfortable and anti-wrinkle too. Paired with both is their Axam turtleneck in black (size small). I own this in three colors and wear it non-stop as a closet staple during fall and winter. For sizing, I’m wearing a size 6 in the Kati jacket/blazer (forest color) and a size 4 in the O’hara blazer and size 6 in Colby pants (wine).

Okay, are you guys ready for this jacket? This jacket is one of the most stunning pieces – I feel like it’s giving vintage Chanel vibes (you also have to see it in the white it comes in). This piece is definitely a splurge but the reviews are amazing and I can see why. It’s tailored really well (I just added the belt for a more fitted look since the MMLF Horton pants have a slight flare), and the detailing on it is *chefs kiss*. Per the reviews, it does tend to run smaller so I sized up to a medium and it’s a perfect fit.

Our next look is an elevated take on your classic white button down. Still a staple piece that you can pair with anything, but the black embroidery adds such a beautiful touch. The stitching is long the sleeves, the back shoulders and the collar. I tucked it fully in with the Milo jean in black (which have such good stretch to them – incredibly comfortable, wearing a size 6) but would also look great half tucked, paired with a blazer, etc.

Last but certainly not least – the vest. If you have been watching any of my stories lately, you know I’ve been vest obsessed. I think the reason I love them so much is because it’s a great transition piece for fall and it instantly makes your outfit look more polished since it’s a take on a traditional suit piece. Also, if you’re still in a warmer climate you can wear it and keep cooler since it’s sleeveless but pending the color and fabric you automatically get more of a seasonal fall vibe. I’m wearing a medium in the vest (I probably could have sized down to a small, so if you’re truly in between sizes, you could likely size down).

Hope you guys enjoyed this post and it gave you some inspiration for your workwear looks! Thank you to M.M.LaFleur for sponsoring this post and remember that code CLAIRE20 can be used towards their pieces!
