I think it’s safe to say that overnight oats have become one of my favorite things to make for breakfast. First off, they are so quick to make, very convenient to take on the go, and they taste amazing! So all in all, you really can’t go wrong with this recipe.
This is a recipe that you can really play with a number of ingredients. The only two ingredients you really need are oats and milk–everything else you can add depending on your taste preferences. But basically, you mix 1/2 cup oats and 1/2 milk (or whatever amount you’d like, just make it a 1:1 ratio), add whatever other ingredients, mix together, and refrigerate over night. It’s really that simple.
So one of my favorite ways to make overnight oats is the following:
»1/2 cup quaker oats (not cooked)
»1/2 cup coconut milk
»3 tbsp vanilla protein powder
»1 tsp pumpkin chai tea latte mix (from trader joe’s)
Then I just mix everything together and put in the fridge overnight. In the morning I add strawberries, blueberries, shredded coconut, chai seeds, and some peanut butter and cacao almond spread. SO good!
Just a tip– I would recommend mixing in your toppings, especially fruits, in the morning. Toppings like peanut butter and cocoa almond spread work well mixed overnight or the next morning, but toppings like fresh fruit are best if they are put in once the oats have set with the rest of the ingredients.
Enjoy!
