Hi guys! Happy New Year!
I’m not a big one for resolutions per say, and honestly I’m kind of tired at this point of seeing all the cliche “bye 2020” captions on social media LOL. I mean, I totally get it and was tempted to post something similar yesterday about how I’m looking forward to 2021, how 2020 has been really difficult in so many ways but I also feel like there are silver linings to every situation etc. But I don’t know..for whatever reason I just didn’t have it in me lol. It was feeling really forced, so I just took the day to just spend time with my sister (still binging Bridgerton lol), and then Stephen and I went to our friend’s house for dinner. It was super low-key (we were all basically in sweatpants haha) and we just drank wine, had good food, and were home by 10pm! My kind of night!
But anyway, I just wanted to say Happy New Year to you guys, and share a little encouragement for any of y’all that are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just exhausted after the year we’ve had.
It’s crazy to think how much changed over the course of last year. Last NYE I had worked my last shift at the hospital and was excited what 2020 would bring taking my business full-time, but also a little nervous. Needless to say 2020 did not go as planned. However, in thinking of how unexpected this year was, and the fact that there was so much change…in a weird way gives me hope. If that much could change in a single year, think of how much can change for the better in 2021? And I don’t just mean with COVID. Yes, I am feeling really hopeful going into this year with the vaccine but in general, here’s the thing. Most people don’t like change in general because they are afraid of the unknown. They are comfortable in the status quo because it’s what they know, it’s what’s familiar. But what if we looked at change and the unknown with a different perspective? When things are unknown that also means that ANYTHING is possible. Yes, bad things can happen but ALSO good things. To me, this notion is really encouraging and motivating because, there are really endless possibilites that your life can change for the better. So maybe you’re feeling in a rut, or really overwhelmed right now, but if you try to adjusts your perspective to the future being unknown and therefore anything (good) can happen, it can be really encouraging IMO.
Really at the end of the day, all we can do it do our best to move forward. A year ago is when I got my “forward” tattoo and it’s a constant reminder to me that the only way out of any sh*t you’re dealing with is to move forward and keep putting one foot in front of the other.
So with all that said! I hope that y’all are feeling more hopeful moving into this year. Today I am spending the day cleaning the house lol, and then brainstorming and setting clear intentions for my business and personal life! Having a clear vision for what you want out of this next year (and just life in general), is really motivating because it gives you something more tangible to hold on to and work towards 🙂
