Stay at Home NYE Ideas

So I think it goes without saying that NYE will look a little different this year! As much as I’ll miss getting dressed up and going out, part of me is totally okay with staying in and keeping it low key! So with that said, I tired to round up some ideas that might make NYE at home a little more fun! Also, thank you guys for sending some of these in 🙂

Wine, beer, champagne or whiskey tasting I mean, who doesn’t like doing tastings?! I feel like they are always fun and they definitely can help pass the time 😉 It could be fun to “hide the label” for each of them and then try to guess which one you’re tasting. I feel like I definitely could refine my palette when it comes to wine so this would be good practice for me haha.

Games Okay, so we love a good game night! Some of our favorites are Monopoly Deal, Jackbox (you play from your phone & you can also play virtually with friends), Codenames (Codenames Duet for 2 people), Cards Against Humanity, charades, and then I found this game on Etsy (it’s a digital download) that looks promising! Other suggestions were Hunt a Killer (on amazon, can be delivered tomorrow) and this sounds like my kind of game!

Charcuterie & apps Obviously good food is a requirement! I love a good charcuterie board (blog post on how to make a great one here), and we all know I am here for the TJs frozen apps 😉

Make festive cocktails I loved this round up here!

(Camp)fire in the backyard While it’s still chilly out, I feel like NYE is the perfect time to cozy up around the fire and make some s’mores. Last month we even went to a friends house and we set up an outdoor projector to stream a movie in the backyard with a fire, spiked apple cider, lots of snacks. It was a really fun!

Create a vision board/outline your intentions for 2021. I think getting clear on your intentions is super important when you have certain goals you want to hit! If there are things you’ve been wanting to achieve in 2021, get really clear on what they are and then set realistic steps to get you there. I also think vision boards are a great way to get you excited about achieving your future goals. Photos of where you want to live, how you want to feel, what car you want to drive, etc. The board can represent physical, emotional or mental things you are working towards. In general though, visualization is really powerful. I remember listening to a podcast episode from Ed Mylett and he talked about how when he was younger he would drive down a specific street of houses on the ocean because he wanted to buy a house there one day. I have done similar things, and I can tell you that it works! It gets you in the right mindset and excited about working towards your goals.

Write a future letter to yourself (to read next NYE). Kind of along the lines of setting intentions for the year as in it’s something more personal but I think that this is a great idea. It kind of reminded me of the blog post I wrote last year on Thoughts For Going Into 2020. I re-read that post the other day and it had a lot of great reminders (why is it you can’t always remember your own advice?!)

Make boozy desserts I found this roundup of desserts made with champagne so if you’re good in the kitchen (unlike me 😉 ) this could be fun!

At home movie theater I loved this idea one of y’all sent in! Watch a movie, do a movie marathon, binge your favorite Netflix series, but go all out in the snack department. Make a popcorn bar, get your favorite movie theater candy, and break out the mini diet cokes 😉 or bubbly haha. There are a ton of ideas for a popcorn bar on Pinterest if you need some inspo!

Get dressed up and have a nice dinner I know most of us have been living in sweats this year but if there is a time to get dressed up, this it! Make a nice tablescape, light some candles, pop a great bottle of champagne and then either cook your favorite meal or order out (I know a lot of restaurants have NYE takeout specials). Someone also suggested making pizzas at home which I love!

Fondue Another suggestion from one of y’all and I thought this was such a good idea! You can get a fondue set at Target or Walmart so if you don’t have one (most of us probably don’t lol), it’s not too late! You could do cheese or chocolate (or both if you’re feeling wild ;)). I feel like this is such a fun “activity” that you don’t do everyday so it feels more like a special occasion. I’ve only done fondue a couple of times but I loved it! I mean who doesn’t like food dipped in cheese or chocolate?! Haha.

If y’all have any other ideas, feel free to leave them below!!
