Hey guys! So kind of a random post topic today but over the weekend I was using one of the apps below and I was thinking how glad I was that I knew about it! That being said, I figured I’d share a few apps that you may not know about that I think are worth downloading. Ps. I know the photo above has nothing to do with this post, but we’re just going to go with it LOL.
Noonlight – Essentially this is a personal safety app that when enabled can immediately send your exact location (from your phone) to an emergency service called Noonlight, who can then check in on you to see if you need help and/or call police. When you dial 911, you have to be able to speak and physically give your location to the operator. With this app, it eliminates that. As soon as you activate it, it gives you 10 seconds to enter your personal PIN (in case it was a false alarm) and if you do no enter the PIN, police are notified of your exact location immediately. Simultaneously, a Noonlight dispatcher will text you to see if you are safe. There’s also additional features of the app (like it can detect if you’re in a car accident and send police and EMS immediately) which I love. But you know the Crime Junkie in me is all about the immediate police notification in the event of a real emergency!
Libby – One of y’all introduced me to this app and I’m so glad you did! Think of it as an online library where you can get free book downloads to your kindle, phone, or even in audiobook form. It was getting so expensive buying books through amazon for my Kindle, so I loooove this app! The only downside is that there can be a waitlist for some of the books, but I feel like you never wait as long as the waitlist actually suggests (people are fast readers I guess 😉 ). Either way, while you’re on the waitlist for one book, you can find another one that you’ve been wanting to read in the meantime. To sign up for the app, you basically enter your zip code and some other basic information and it will locate a local library where you can sign up for a library card through the app. Then you’re all set to browse all your favorite books!
Goodreads – Another app that one of you shared with me (what would I do without y’all?!) So this app is a place where you can keep track of books you’ve read, that you want to read, and what you’re currently reading. Based off this, the app gives you recommendations and ratings of similar books and authors you may enjoy. It’s been a great way for me to keep track of books I want to read, books that someone recommends that I need to read in the future, and of course finding new recommendations through the app itself!
Shop – If you do a good amount of online shopping, this app is for you! LOL. I discovered this app last year during quarantine when getting packages was one of the few things to look forward to haha. Basically it tracks all your packages in one place (the app lol) so you can see where everything is in it’s tracking process and when it’s supposed to be delivered. Much easier than sorting through emails.
Vivino – An app that I’ve definitely shared before and for good reason! This is my go-to app when it comes to seeing if a wine is worth buying. You can search any wine in the app and it will show you the overall rating (out of 5 stars), the flavor profile, reviews from other users, etc. It’s also an easy way to keep track of your favorites, or a wine that you randomly tried and loved and need to remember for later.
If y’all have any random apps we need to know about, please share below!
