So I’m using the word “design” loosely here haha, but over the weekend I showed a glimpse of furniture items that I was looking at for our living room and received so many DM’s asking which program I was using. I figured I’d just recap everything in a blog post as a resource for future.
What I showed on IG was this:
I used Canva to create this, which is a super user friendly program to create graphics or illustrations. I predominately use Canva for social media graphics and templates, but it’s great for little projects like this where I want to visualize how something will look in the space. Granted, this isn’t the best photo because I don’t have an empty living room/space to layout the furniture in. However, it still lets me see the pieces with our current paint colors, home style, etc. It also allows you to see how certain pieces go together and what pairs best. Once I narrowed it down some, I did another layout like this one below. And alternatively, you can just do this from the beginning too.
For me, this is a huge help with being able to visualize a space before investing in different pieces. Even if I know one piece in particular will work in a space, this ensures that it goes well with the existing furniture or the other new pieces I’m thinking of buying. Canva itself is a free program, but I have the PRO subscription which allows me to do things like remove the background from the images. I feel like this helps you get even a clearer vision.
Anyway! That is about all there is to it. Nothing too fancy or complicated, but figured I’d give this a permanent spot on the blog since I got so many questions about it xx
Claire, I love your couch it is everything. Thanks so much for sharing this!
