As many of you know, the last couple years I have really worked on refining my style – this means narrowing down the types of pieces I actually wear to help me define my personal style, and then focusing on quality over quantity. I wear the same style of pieces 90% of the time (outside of a special occasion), so my wardrobe should really reflect that. Otherwise, you’re in one of those situations where you truly have a ton of clothes but wake up, look at your closet, and feel like “I have nothing to wear.” Sound familiar? That is the sentiment that pushed me to really get clear on my personal style and start being more particular about the pieces I was investing in and buying. That being said, today I’m going to share several classic pieces from M.M.LaFleur (code CLAIRE20 btw!) to have in your wardrobe. These are worth the investment as not only are they extremely high quality, but you will be able to continue to wear them regardless of age, profession, etc. Not to mention – their items are wrinkle resistant and don’t require dry cleaning. When was the last time you had that luxury in workwear pieces?
M.M.LaFleur’s style philosophy revolves around power casual – think the ultimate pairing of work-life balance pieces. These are wardrobe staples that can be styled to be worn in and out of the office. And even if you don’t work in an office like me, you’ll still get a lot of use out of these pieces. Again – these are closet staples that you can wear regardless of your profession, age, lifestyle etc. It’s all about how you style and pair them.
Earlier this year, M.M.LaFleur published an article on their blog (The M Dash) on 7 Looks That Will Define Women’s Fashion in 2023 so I decided to pick one of them to inspire today’s blog post. As a sidenote – they have so many great articles on styling, career, inspiring women, etc.
So we all know I love a wide leg pant. So is it any surprise that I chose one of their classic wide leg pants as one of the seven looks? The Horton that I have on here is great because you can see how versatile they are (TTS, wearing a 6. Code CLAIRE20 can be used towards any of their full-priced pieces btw). Style with their Leslie t-Shirt (TTS, wearing a small), sneakers, and belt bag for a coffee date. Or alternatively, throw on booties and one of their blazers (I’m wearing the O’Hara Blazer – Stretch Houndstooth; TTS, wearing a 4) for a more elevated look. And you all know how much I love an oversized blazer in general. Blazer, wide leg leather pants (again, wide leg, are we seeing a trend?), and Converse or booties. Done and done.
Remember, I said these are all capsule pieces that will work for regardless of outing. It’s all about how you style them! And M.M.LaFleur makes sure their pieces actually work outside of work. The Horton Pant and O’Hara Blazer, for example, have great stretch to them so you’re going to be comfortable whether you’re sitting at a desk, running errands, or meeting your friends for happy hour. And like I mentioned before – they are machine washable and wrinkle resistant, which also makes them perfect for throwing into a suitcase for travel.
Last but not least – I have to call out their Leslie T-shirt and Axam ribbed Turtleneck. Both of these are made with Pima Cotton (from Peru) and if you have ever owned anything made with Pima, you know the material is supreme. Literally, the softest fabric you’ll ever own and it’s also known to be incredibly resistant due to the strength of the fibers. Anyway, how many times have we seen me wear a solid tee or turtleneck as a part of an outfit? Pretty sure during the winter I wear my solid black turtleneck 4 days out of the week lol. And as the weather warms up, everyone needs a solid white tee as part of their wardrobe (but feel free to get crazy with other colors)!
All that to say – if you’re wondering where to start in terms of adding some capsule pieces to your wardrobe. I have a couple wardrobe exercises posted here and here that can help you narrow down where to start. In my opinion, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the pieces I’ve shared today but you may be more in the market for one in particular than others. Either way, these M.M.LaFleur pieces are classics that you’ll never have to worry about going out of style and the quality is truly unmatched. I have genuinely enjoyed getting dressed more day to day and feel more confident in my wardrobe now because of the intention I’ve taken behind the pieces I’ve selected over the past couple years. All that to say, I had a lot of fun writing this post and hope that it helps you improve your own wardrobe! Thank you to M.M.LaFleur for sponsoring this post and for giving first time customers a discount of 20% with code CLAIRE20.
